Inkrift ("the App," "we," "us") is a single-player, on-device visual novel game. This policy explains what information the App handles and how.
We do not operate a server backend for gameplay. We do not collect, receive, or store your gameplay data, save files, dialogue history, or account information on any server we control. There is no account system — the App does not require you to sign in or provide personal information to us in order to play.
We do not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The App stores the following locally, in a database on your device:
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (for example, via the in-app "export content reports" feature, which saves a file to a location you choose) or the App sends specific text to a third-party AI service as described next.
Inkrift is an AI-driven game: character dialogue is generated by a Large Language Model (LLM), and optionally converted to speech or transcribed from speech. You choose and configure which service provider handles this, and you supply your own API key for that service.
When you play, the text of your in-game messages and the surrounding game context needed to generate a reply (such as recent dialogue and character state) is sent directly from your device to the AI provider you configured, using your API key. We do not see, receive, or store this traffic — it goes directly from your device to the provider you chose.
Some features can run fully on-device and send nothing anywhere, depending on your settings and platform: the default text-to-speech voice, the default speech-to-text model, and the default memory/embedding model. Where the App offers a cloud alternative for these, it is opt-in, and once enabled it is subject to the same "sent directly to the provider you configured" model described above.
Because you choose the AI provider, that provider's own privacy policy and data-handling practices govern how they process what you send them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of whichever provider you configure.
Inkrift includes a layered safety system for AI-generated content: an instruction to the AI, an on-device filter that can block or redact certain output, and an optional in-app "report" button. When the filter intervenes, or when you use the report button, a record (the flagged text, and what was done about it) is written to the local log described above. This log stays on your device. You may export it yourself at any time from the in-app Content Safety screen, or remove it by deleting your save or app data.
Inkrift is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Age-rating information for the App is available on its App Store listing.
Because all gameplay data lives on your device, you control it directly: you can delete a save, clear the App's local data, or uninstall the App at any time to remove everything it has stored. If you email us using the contact link below, that email is handled through your own email provider like any other email you send.
We may update this policy as the App changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Inkrift is a single-player visual novel where the story is generated live by an AI as you talk to its characters. Your game runs entirely on your device — saves, characters, and progress all stay local — and you bring your own API key for the AI service that powers the dialogue.
On first launch, Inkrift walks you through picking an AI provider and entering an API key. Most players can get a key from a supported provider in a couple of minutes; the in-app setup screen links directly to the sign-up page for each option. Custom or self-hosted endpoints are also supported from Settings.
On iOS, use the microphone button on the system keyboard for dictation. On other platforms, check that microphone permission is granted and that speech-to-text is enabled in Settings.
Check the voice/TTS settings for the character or the game overall — a specific voice or engine choice may not be available on your platform, in which case the App falls back to a default automatically. Try re-selecting a voice from the list in Settings.
Inkrift includes an automatic content filter, and you can report any specific reply directly from the dialogue screen (the report button next to the message). Reports are logged on your device; you can review or export that log any time from the Content Safety screen in the in-game menu.
